Ms. Retha Rodgers Hosea (“Sister”) was born July 19, 1953 to the union of Greene and Florence Hosea in Marengo County, Alabama. She departed this life on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the UAB University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Retha was preceded in death by her father and mother Geene and Florence Hosea, one brother, Alfred Hosea, one sister, Dorothy King and two sons Myrandom “Prez” Rodgers and William “Billy” Rodgers.
Ms. Retha Rodgers Hosea was a 1971 graduate of Marengo High School. She was employed by Simplex Sewing Factory in Thomasville, Alabama. Later she began her journey to California where she became a Cosmetologist. She soon returned to Marengo County where she began working at Chan’s Hair Affair in Dixons Mills, Alabama until her health fell.
She received Christ at an early age and she joined the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Nicholsville, Alabama and was a faithful member until her health fell.
She united in holy matrimony to William Rodgers (Nookie) in December 1975. To this union three children were born.
She lives to cherish her precious memories: one loving and beloved daughter, Daphne Rodgers of Sweet Water, Alabama, one brother, Henry Hosea, three grandchildren, Derrius Rodgers of Mobile, Alabama, Sharzia (Quentin) Hunt of Jackson, Alabama and Tre’ Young Rodgers of Sweet Water, Alabama; two – great grandchildren, Kaleb Hunt and Anayia Hunt of Jackson, Alabama. One devoted friend, Jose’ Taylor of Sweet Water, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
