Lorenza “Whip”, “Cat Eyes” Lewis was born in Dixons Mills, Alabama to the late Mrs. Lucille Lewis and Mr. Harvey Lewis on September 1,1953 and departed this life on Monday, September 26, 2022. Lorenza was educated in the Marengo School System in Dixons Mills, Al. Lorenza resided in the Dixons Mills community until his departure. He held numerous professional positions which included employment with Miller Lumber Company, American , and Union 76 Full Service Station. He was very helpful in the community offering his bushhogging services and fixerupper projects. He loved growing his beautiful gardens which were bountiful with vegetables that he lovingly shared throughout the community with family and friends. He was a quiet and gentle man with a heart of gold! Lorenza was predeceased by his mother, Lucille Lewis, his father, Harvey Lewis, brothers, LV Lewis, William “Stut" Lewis, sisters, Lois Allen, Barbara “Honey” Lewis, Armaziel “ Maye” Lewis Pritchett, and Brenda “Dean” Quinn. Lorenza leaves to cherish two sisters, Fannie “Sallye” Bacote and Annie “Tot” Collins both of Fayetteville, NC and two brothers, Essie “Crook” Lewis of Bronx, NY and Michael Lewis of Dixons Mills, AL who was faithful and dedicated to his brother’s care the end. He never had children of his own but was very instrumental with raising a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. Lorenza joined the Jones Chapel C.M.E. Church in Dixons Mills, Alabama at a young age and continued his membership until departing. There will always be special memories that each of us will hold close within our hearts, but he had four very close friends who were there with him until the end. Many heartfelt thanks are expressed to Ms. Maggie Hackworth, Ms. Sarah Allen, Mr. Courtney "CoCo" Griffin, and Perry Lucy.
