Jeanette Grayson Obituary

Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Friend and a Willing Worker of Christ are some of the titles used to describe the life of Jeanette Octavia Grayson who was born on October 2, 1942 to the late Mable Tidmore and Eddie G. Rodgers.  She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.
Jeanette confessed Christ at an early age and was an active member of Rockbabylon Missionary Baptist Church.  She served on the Deaconess and Missionary ministries and was a member of Flint Beauty #697 Order of The Eastern Star.
Jeanette graduated Class of 1960 from Indian Springs High School and furthered her education at Mobile College, Mobile, Alabama.  Jeanette retired from Marengo County School System where she devoted 21 ½ years of service.
Jeanette had a gentle, humble, caring nature about her that everyone loved.  She was well known, loved, and was respected in her community and beyond.  Whenever you saw her, she always had a smile on her face and she always had words to say that would consequently put a smile on the faces of others.  If you met her, she welcomed you into her life with a huge heart.
In 1968, Jeanette was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Deacon Gaston E. Grayson.  This union was blessed with three children.  Later in life, on February 10, 2016, God blessed her again by sending her another wonderful husband, Mr. Russell C. Ward, who preceded her in death in August.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Rodgers.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children:  Kerry (Nicole) Grayson of Wheaton, IL, Anthony, Sr. (Maria) Grayson of Florence, SC and Monique (Alphonzo) Grayson-Humphrey of Huntsville, AL; Goddaughter, Tonya (Brian) Shamburger; bonus children, Russell Ward, Jr. of New York, Maggie Watkins of Texas, Jeffery (Celeste) Ward of Ohio, Barbra Ward of Virginia and Janice (Willie) Warren of Ohio; three sisters, Shirley (Michael) Cooke of Mobile, AL, Sherry (Eddie) Harris of Mobile, AL and Barbara Graves of Jacksonville, FL; one sister-in-law, Ruby Rodgers; five brothers, Eddie G. Rodgers of Pennington, AL, Eric (Deidre) Rodgers of Tuscaloosa, AL, LaBaron, Sr. (Tammy) Rodgers of Pennington, AL, Larry (Glynis) Rodgers of Pennington, AL and Eddie G., Jr. (Willie Mae) Rodgers of Jackson, MS; twenty-three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. ”
II Timothy 4:6-8
