Frankie Mae Dixon was born in Marengo County, Alabama on December 10, 1934 to the union of Robert Lee Sr. and Nora Morris. Frankie was preceded in death by her father Robert Lee Morris Sr., her mother Nora Morris Lewis, her son Calvin L. Dixon (Classie), her brother Robert Morris Jr. (Callie Morris), her sister Rosie Lee Mitchell (Maurice Mitchell), and her husband Joseph Lee Dixon Sr.
Frankie joined Antioch Missionary Baptist church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior at an early age. She later moved to Chicago where she was a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of Reverend Z. Brooks; now, Reverend Johnnie L. Miller. She remained a member there until she moved back to Alabama and re-united with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Edmond Charlston.
Frankie was married to Joseph Lee Dixon Sr. for 58 years and to this union four children were born. Frankie worked for Leaders Cleaners, and later Hotpoint General Electric and Cook County Recorder of Deeds where she retired. She was a devout member of the Grand Chapter of Alabama Order of the Eastern Star.
Frankie was blessed with a long and meaningful life of 91 years for which her family is deeply grateful. She loved cooking, gardening, showing hospitality, listening to the Blues and Gospel music and singing along with the Church choir. Frankie was a loving and steady presence especially to her grandchildren and was always present while they were growing up with her guidance, unwavering support helping to shape their lives and will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family that will continue to live in their hearts. Though she will be deeply missed, the family finds comfort in the many fond memories and the lasting impact of her life.
Frankie leaves to cherish her memory her three surviving children, one son; Joseph Lee Dixon Jr. (Cynthia) of Chicago Il.; Juanita of Birmingham Al.; Rose E.Dixon of Chicago Il. Six Grandchildren, Joseph Lee Dixon III., Nicole Lemon, Jonette Dixon all of Chicago Il.; Jarrell Dixon of Arkansas, Pastor Calvin Leon Dixion Jr. (Evangelist Tori Dixon) and Llyod Kendricks Dixon (Felicia) of Tennessee. Nine Great grandchildren, Akayhla, Joevantae, Aja, Jomaine, Jomari, Amir, London, and Journee, Cattice and one Great-Greatgrandchild Yamari. Along with a host of nieces and nephews, two loyal friends Polly and Mike and those that deeply cared for her including the staff at Bella Terra Nursing Facility where she was affectionately known as a favorite to many. Frankie’s loving and tell it like it is humorous nature will forever be in the hearts of her loved ones.
